Safety Definitions
Container Stack or Stack –
A designated row or area of marked slots for stacking containers.
Field Service –
Loading container to/from from a flatbed or chassis with the use of a toplift or RTG.
Driver–
The person driving or operating a motorized vehicle or equipment.
RTG (Rubber Tired Gantry) –
Straddles a stack of containers and is used to load and unload containers from a stack.
Ship’s Dock or Docking Area/Apron –
The roadway and paved areas, which parallels the Savannah River.
Toplift or Container Handler –
A large forklift like piece of equipment with expandable spreader bar.
Travel Pad or Path –
A designated path marked with visible lines for cranes and or RTGs to travel.
Vehicle/Cab –
Enclosed part of a motorized vehicle or equipment which holds personnel.
