Safety Definitions
 
  • Container Stack or Stack – A designated row or area of marked slots for stacking containers.

  • Field Service –  Loading container to/from from a flatbed or chassis with the use of a toplift or RTG.

  • Driver– The person driving or operating a motorized vehicle or equipment.

  • RTG (Rubber Tired Gantry) – Straddles a stack of containers and is used to load and unload containers from a stack.

  • Ship’s Dock or Docking Area/Apron – The roadway and paved areas, which parallels the Savannah River.

  • Toplift or Container Handler – A large forklift like piece of equipment with expandable spreader bar.

  • Travel Pad or Path – A designated path marked with visible lines for cranes and or RTGs to travel.

  • Vehicle/Cab – Enclosed part of a motorized vehicle or equipment which holds personnel.
