The 2009 annual State of the Port address was hosted on September 17, 2009 at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. More than 900 members of the southeastern U.S. business, maritime and transportation communities attended with special guest Georgia Governor Perdue. GPA Executive Director Doug J. Marchand announced that after 15 years of leadership, he was stepping down as GPA's Executive Director effective January 1, 2010. GPA's Chairman of the Board Steve Green announced that Curtis Foltz, GPA’s Chief Operating Officer, has been selected as the new Executive Director. Marchand also presented the latest developments of Georgia’s dynamic maritime transportation industry.
