Future Expansion
The Smoother, Faster Flow of Cargo

Constantly expanding and evolving to meet market demands, Ocean Terminal provides unmatched efficiencies and numerous opportunities for growth. And this dynamic terminal is poised for even more development, all designed to provide enhanced services and the smoother, faster flow of cargo.

Ocean Terminal’s wealth of surrounding land provides ample space for this growth to take place. Many acres are available for the development of additional open, paved storage for the productive processing of RoRo cargo.

As the volume of cargo moving through the Port of Savannah escalates and the ships carrying that cargo grow even larger, plans call for Savannah’s channel to be deepened from its present depth of 42 feet (12.8 meters) up to 48 feet (14.6 meters) at mean low water in order to accommodate the next generation of deep-draft vessels. Completion of this project is projected for 2014.
