The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that December 1, 2008 will be the mandatory compliance date for the TWIC program in the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick. On said date all port users will be required to present a TWIC card (and a valid GPA credential) to gain access to any GPA terminal. This is a firm date and not subject to change.
The Authority strongly encourages all port users, who have not already done so, to take the required steps to enroll for their TWIC. Port users will be required to present both a TWIC card and a valid GPA credential to gain access to all GPA terminals on December 1, 2008.
All port users must have their actual TWIC card. Federal law prohibits the Authority from allowing port users with just a receipt for their TWIC card to access any GPA terminal. Only those persons with their TWIC cards will be allowed on GPA terminals. Those port users presenting just their receipts will be denied access to all GPA terminals.
